As an extension of its role as master planners for Santa Monica’s civic center, ROMA was commissioned by the City of Santa Monica to serve as design consultants for the Public Safety Building.  This was the first project to be implemented as part of the 45-acre redevelopment plan and followed by the recently completed Tongva Park and housing complex along Ocean Avenue.  ROMA worked with the City and the project architect to establish the urban design parameters and architectural form and identity of the building.  In addition, ROMA served as project landscape architect, responsible for the design of all public spaces associated with the building including a new entry plaza and the Olympic Drive extension and promenade.  The project was completed; the buildings occupied and the plaza and other urban spaces open for public enjoyment.
